A while ago I posted in a forum about what I have learned since becoming a mother –
- Labour was nothing..this looking after baby thing is pretty hard!
- Men will not stir when baby cries in the middle of the night, but will jump up with a start because “the computer is sounding funny”
- The family survives pretty well on baked beans on toast if they have no other choice
- No sleep makes me pretty grumpy!
- I’ve forgotten what hot tea tastes like
- It’s all worth it when they look at you and smile, or when only *you* can settle their fears
- I now know true unconditional love
- Pumpkin stains carpets
- The world will not come to an end because your child doesn’t have a shower STRAIGHT after breakfast
- The best band-aid is a kiss
- Children respond much better with positive reinforcement than with fear based discipline
- Instinct doesn’t kick in like it does with animals..sometimes it’s a matter of trial and error
- Clean the house before you go to bed, there is never enough time in the morning
- Never argue with a three year old – they always win
- MashaAllah I am truly blessed to be a mum
« Why do you wear that thing on your head? Be thankful, always. »
