May I just offer you all one little tidbit of advice: Do not read the papers. Do not read the online news. There is so much evil in the world and while I’m not advocating burying one’s head in the sand -sometimes it’s better to not know the details of awful, awful things that happen.

——

I love my children dearly and when I say I would do anything for them, I really mean it. I can recall one dreadful morning when my children were just not behaving themselves, not helping themselves to get ready and when they were FINALLY in the car on we were on the way to school I told them, “You know. I would do anything for you children. ANYTHING. All you need to do is ask. If you need me to help you get ready in the morning, to put your shoes on, to pack your bag you just  have to ask. I am not going to do the thinking for you. You boys have NO IDEA what I would do for you. If  one of you asked me for my pinky finger, I would give it to you, just like that. I would hand it over to you.”

So.

Cue 3 sobbing children who actually thought I was going to cut my finger then and there to give it to them. “BUT WE DON’T WANT IT, MUM!”

Ok. So nobody has asked for my pinky finger. YET.

I have discovered though there are limits to this maternal selflessness. Last night we went out to eat and the boys are usually allowed a soft drink (soda). My youngest offered me a sip of his drink but I could not bring myself to have a taste. So what you may ask if my limit?

Backwash.

I love you my beautiful boys but I cannot cannot bring myself to drink your backwash. Here’s my pinky though.
