Tasmiya: Hey, those vegetables you gave were really tikka*. Husband’s mouth was burning for ages afterwards.
Mum: Those weren’t “vegetables.” They were chillies.
Tasmiya: Oh.

shame!
but i’m not one to talk, i couldn’t tell one vegetable from another until i started cooking them. funny, since that’s amongst the first things we learn.
remember the “Names of Vegetables” charts?
Oh but in my defence, my mum did add some potatoes in there. I didn’t look too closely at it but assumed it was just potatoes and green beans. Doh!
haha, next time he should use you as a taster first, just in case lol.
Ya Haqq!
looool!
Oh I hate it when we have chillies in the food disguised as vegetables.
I’m the biggest spice wimp ever. =D And proud of it!
Hope you’re doing fabulously, I’ve missed checking in.
salaamz,
say, which language is tikka? i never heard that used before?
mmmm, chiles. love ‘em only when they burn on the way in, not on the way out LOL!
Wasalaam, I know it’s from my Indian dialect (called Meman, or Kachee) and I’m pretty sure it’s also used in Hindi? Maybe I haven’t spelt it right!
After nursing all this time, my tastebuds have become huge wusses so now I can’t handle too much chilli
I can’t stand overly spicy food either. Its takes away from the taste of the food itself!
Aly and Mousehunter: My mother thinks that anything without chilli has no taste. She used to carry a small bottle of crushed chillis in case we went out to eat and there wasn’t enough spice in her dish. I kid you not!
