I’m getting pretty tired of hearing that old, “well, if you don’t like it here go and live somewhere else!” just because someone dares say something bad about Australia. It used to be immigrants who weren’t allowed to mention their dislikes of their new country..I mean after all they should be grateful the government allowed them in in the first place, right? I remember being told “well, why are you living here then?!”" when I mentioned Australian television shows pale in comparison to British and American ones. Really – that’s just ridiculous. If you are indigenous to this country then you too should be grateful. The settlers took you all out of the dark ages AGAINST your will. Grateful, I tell you. You should be thanking them for taking your children away from you – let’s face it, kids can make your lives really miserable. Nowadays even the white man whose ancestors were on the first fleet can’t mention a grievance without being told to shut up about Australia. You have to love everything about it or pack up and go and live somewhere else.
I really cannot understand this mentality. It’s ok not to love everything about your country and by voicing your disapproval about for example, Australia’s immigration policy it doesn’t mean you hate the place. Being a citizen of a country gives you the right to question what your government is doing (actually on second thought what with all these sedition laws you can question, just not out aloud@@). No country except perhaps a country where I am dictator is perfect.

Well Done Tasmiya!
I totally agree with you on this topic!
I am an immigrant too.
I totally disagree with how our government treats everyone especailly their own indigenous people, immigrants and refugee’s.
Totally wrong in my eyes and I get really frustrated too.
Australia would be a great place if it wasn’t for the government!
