I know everyone has just been hanging out for this.I know because my blog stats have peaked – everyone is refreshing and refreshing the page in the hope I have posted this entry. Actually that is a big lie. Since I opted for my counter to ignore my IP, my visitors have reduced from 30 to oh, I don’t know about FIVE…. which means there is only one person doing the refreshing (me) and how sad that I visit my own site more than once a day…anyway, so where was I?
Oh yes..check these out:
JasonPollock – simpler than mspaint and dare I say it – much more fun!
Science experiment - easy one to keep the kids entertained.Love this experiment because even once you take out the cotton bud, it keeps going! You don’t need to use too much milk – use left over milk that the kids don’t finish if you’re worried about wasting.
Bob the Builder site – this one we visited today and 5 year old was bored of it very quickly. Still, some nice colouring pages you can print out especially if your kids are big fans. It’s cheaper than buying a special edition colouring book.
Colours of Islam. A real oldie – we found a cassette tape (anyone under maybe TWENTY years old wouldn’t know what that is, would they?) stowed away in the boys’ cupboard. I think you can listen to one or two of his songs/nasheeds on the site.
MashaAllah what a beautiful voice.
Ok..sorry nothing really too exciting this week.
School starts on Tuesday and we are all very sad. InshaAllah I will be scouring (is that the word?)the internets for interesting stuff to show 5 year old when he comes home from school.

I love that experiment – going to use it as part of science week at school in August. It’d be interesting to find out what causes it to do that, and it looks fabulous!
The only time I get visitors to my blog is after a Sunday Scribblings post, although people still often do not comment, rather just lurk.
Lurkers are still good though, I expect.

That’s a good one for the kids if they like drawing. Once you have finished with your easel, there is the option to play back and the computer shows you exactly how you did your painting, from beginning to end. Quite nifty!

Thought since I may be that one regular visitor to your blog that I should post a comment to say “I woz ere”. I check your blog for updates every morning on my quick flick through of favourites. And yes, I get very excited when I see a new one. Oh and I tried that origami flipping toy thing from a previous entry. Very cool. Which then led to origami water balls and finally paper cranes (my complete origami repertoire..hehehe). Yes school tomorrow. I sent my hubby back to school this morning. He was equally as reluctant to go! Join me in the countdown to the weekend…only 4 days to go!!! Yahhhhhhhh!!! Okay off to do the dishes. Night.

Salaam;
I visit your blog! I love it here! I just about always get a laugh while I’m here.
Here’s a science experiment your boys might enjoy (do you have Ivory soap in OZ?):
Ivory Soap Explosions!
It looks way cool. I’ll have to do this for my own sons, insha’Allah.
I come by when your site comes up on my daily email from blogarithms. My son loves the bob the builder site but yes it quickly gets boring. Yah i was wondering if your school year is different than ours due to the different seasons?
Salaam Dear Sister:
I am adding it to my blogroll.
I also like your blog
Ya Haqq,
Irving
Thank you all so much for your comments. I didn’t mean to sound whingey and whiney – I just couldn’t believe how many times I was a visitor to my own site.
Aly – I have a lurker from France & I’d love him/her to “out” themselves. Oh and I had lots of people visit after my Sunday Scribblings post, too. After going to read many of the other entries, I sort of feel a bit inadequate!
Tracey – I still owe you emails! And before I forget, the pics of your new place? Divine! The first thing Z said when he saw the toy room, “but it’s so clean, how can it be a toyroom?” I had to explain that not everyone is as messy as our family
B – not sure about ivory soap. I will have to check and get some because that experiment would be talked about for months after at my place. I’m sure 5 year old would love to do it over and over.
Umibrahim – school starts at the beginning of the year. It seems really confusing in the Northern Hemisphere where it starts in September(?). 5 year old has just finished one semester so we’re halfway there!
Irving – Brother Irving, I am a regular lurker at your site. MashaAllah your posts are inspirational. InshaAllah will get my husband to buy me your book!
(Did you hear that, husband?)
Salaam;
If you can’t find it, let me know. I’d be happy to send some winging your way. It’s cheap and readily available here in the US, so please don’t hesitate to ask!
Salaam;
Here’s a website your boys might enjoy. PBS Kids. It’s got a range of games from preschool to elementary, based on the various children’s programs that PBS produces. In my experience, it’s really one of the better children’s websites out there, and they don’t try and sell you stuff (which is a problem with the Nick Jr site, which A1 also loves for the games [Dora, Blue's Clues, etc]).
A particular favorite for A1, who is four, is Cyber Chase. It’s really for older kids who have basic math skills already learned, but he loves it anyway. The games there are much more of a challenge without being impossibly difficult, and of course he’s got good ol’ Mom to do the really hard stuff and show him how it’s done. I think your five year old would really enjoy them, insha’Allah.
