Dawdling

It’s quite ok to dawdle if you have all the time in the world – if your mother is not at you every minute telling you what to do, if your school starts whenever you pitch up, if there were no cars on the road, if the creche at mum’s gym didn’t really care that you booked your child in at a certain time, if you woke up early enough, if you packed your bag and lunch the night before.

BUT

You DO have to pray Qur’an before you leave for school. Your school starts at 8:45 am and there is always traffic to contend with. The creche asks mum to set a time for booking the children in so that they have adequate staff to take care of the the children. You always wake up late no matter what time mum tries to wake you up or what time you go to bed. You used to be such an early bird when you were younger. Your lunch is done, it’s just in the fridge and your books are strewn all over your desk and the teacher expects you to bring them to school everyday.

This is why I am always yelling at you to

HURRY UP!

..because points is all my brain will allow me. There is much happening in the Tasmiya & family’s household.

  • I am an Auntie once again. Beautiful baby girl!
  • My certification letter was apparently ok as I have been granted a phone interview with the director of Hand in Hand on Thursday! Wish me luck.
  • School sux eggs.
  • I can’t really say I’m happy about this new economic stimulus package. It’s always nice to get things for nothing but I really wonder how this is going to stimulate anything since I think all we  will be doing will be saving any money we get.  How will you Australian citizens spend your money?  Why can’t the government build stuff with it..you know like HOSPITALS, spend money on public transport and SCHOOLS. I wish someone would just give me the job of being boss of the world – I’d sort them all out.
  • Work has started up a book club! Am very excited to join up. I had forgotten all about the joys of reading until I attended the Lifeline Bookfest earlier in the year. I have loved reading George Orwell’s 1984 (why didn’t anyone tell me how good this book is??) and the classic Animal Farm and now I’m onto White Teeth by Zadie Smith. I can’t say I am loving this one but it’s an easy read and quite funny in parts. We are deciding on our book club book next week. Excited!!
  • My boys are doing well – 5 year old has started prep and has taken to it like a duck to water. 3 year old is LOVING special time with mother. 8 year old is blossoming with our semi-relaxed approach to learning this year (he had a very difficult year in 2008.) I miss my boys when they are at school and I really hate having to leave them.
  • I have a big pimple on my chin.
