Once at home, tried ever so hard to play peacemaker but failed miserably which meant that 2 year old and 4 year old were fighting over every available toy, space and vying for my attention. I hurriedly got lunch ready – they weren’t interested in left over lasagne since it was VEGETARIAN lasagne so managed to entice them yet again with noodles (honestly, they are a God-send).

I washed more dishes and finished sweeping up the kitchen and dining room. They continued to fight with each other and my 4 year old was really trying my patience. It ended horridly – him in a time out in his room lest I yell at him even more and 2 year old was also sent to his room to have a nap. I didn’t think he would actually fall asleep but he did – no tears, no breastfeed. Woohoo!

I hung the clothes on the line to dry and had a shower. Put another load in the washing machine but didn’t put machine on. Prayed zuhr and then back into the kitchen to chop up the steak and marinate for tonight. 4 year old (who had long ago calmed down and was in good spirits) helped with the marinade (which was all of lemon pepper – I am all for short-cut cooking). Played with 4 year old while I had my lunch – we played with my old Kinder Surprises then played a quiet game of catch in the lounge.

Time to pick up 7 year old. Grabbed sleeping 2 year old, much to his disgust of course and he then proceeded to tantrum and scream while I tried to buckle him into the car. Once he finally calmed down, realised that he wanted some milk so ran to get his beaker.

Picked up 7 year old, home. Feeding him some fruit at the moment. He will have to do his homework now and change straight into swimming stuff. I will try to make skewers with steak and onion, ready to be cooked when we get home. Will still need to pray Asr.

Shamelessly stolen from Shaz although I dare say my day is not going to be as exciting and busy as hers:

I woke up at 4:30 this morning as 2 year old woke up demanding a feed. He climbed into bed and promptly fell into a violent sleep, thrashing and kicking. Husband got ready for the gym while I tried in vain to get more shut-eye. Realising this was impossible, got into the kitchen and melted a slab of chocolate for my breakfast to ice a chocolate cake I had made yesterday, washed the dishes and made rotis.

Oh my gosh, shaz – I am making rotis! And they are actually turning out properly – they are ROUND and attempting to rise a bit so it’s all good. Best of all, they’re edible. Once they were halfway done, 2 year old peeked into the kitchen, all smiles. I quickly made his favourite meal of all time (2 minute noodles alhamdulillah.) He ate all by himself. 4 year old then woke up – in a surprisingly good mood. He ate kand and roti (hot roti smothered in ghee and sprinkled with sugar). 7 year old was up last (which is very unlike him). He too ate roti for breakfast.

Husband returned from gym and we started our tag team shower/breakfast routine. Since the boys are only allowed 4 minute showers, while eating our breakfast husband and I take turns in organising them in the shower, out again and changing clothes.

Put a load of washing in machine.

Washed more dishes and ironed husband shirt, made beds and tidied up lounge. When husband and 7 year old left, finished off the remaining dishes and swept kitchen. Made morning tea for boys and organised my gym stuff.

Organised swimming stuff for this afternoon.

Went to gym.

Bumped into a friend and chatted for a while.

Home.
