Things they don’t tell you about the chalkboard wall you so lovingly apply to help the children’s creativity blossom:

1. 4 year old will smear his face on the wall and scream out, “Look at me, mum I’m the JOKER!”

2. 2 year old will carry a very large receptacle of water and splash water all over the wall. “I’m washing, mum!”

3. Children will use any piece of fabric in the vicinity (ie clothes on their backs, tea towels, mother’s scarf) as a chalkboard duster.

4. Children will actually WORK TOGETHER and share the wall. Would anyone have thought THAT would happen?

5. Children won’t ask to watch Kim Possible, Batman or Mythbusters as they’re too busy drawing.

6. Mother can pretend she is homeschooling the children.

7. 2 year old will discover that sometimes it’s more fun to squash the chalk pieces to dust than use them to write.

Lady, your son is TWO YEARS OLD. If it is anybody’s fault that he got bitten it’s most certainly yours. Nobody calmly tells a two year old to stop playing on the road and then turns around and say, “but I told him to stop doing it,” when he gets hit by a car. You know what normal people do – they physically remove their child from a dangerous situation. I know your dog has never shown aggressive tendencies but she’s a 50 kg dog. A two year old child doesn’t stand a chance.

“I am determined that my children should have no financial security. It ruins people not having to earn money.”

I don’t know what I think about this one. On the one hand, I know I need to teach my children that they need to EARN a living but I’d hate to leave them without any security. Part of why we earn our money is FOR our children – to better their lives now and when we pass on.
