My last post seems to have upset somebody (I think that means I’ve “made it” in the blog world?). Pinnacle wrote-

Violence should not be an attribute of a wife, or for that matter, a woman!
You shouldn’t greet your husband in this shameless way.
Afterall, Islam is a a faith of PEACE and humility.
Instead of displeasing him, you should have a nice dinner ready for him. How would you feel coming home to such a thing?
Think about your actions before you act!

My two cents.

I’m sorry to have offended you. I do believe you are over-reacting though.

I don’t think a water bomb fight would be classified as violence or something shameless and with this we could argue until the cows come home. YMMV.

I did think very carefully before I recruited my 2 sons and ambushed him with the water bombs and if there was any chance he would have been “displeased” I would not have done it. I would never purposely do anything to upset him.I know my husband. The same way I know which members of my family would enjoy a surprise water bomb fight – I would never do this to my mother – she’d be mortified. I would probably only try this with one of my sisters. My brother would have grabbed our stockpile and have fought back

My relationship with my husband is one of mutual respect, understanding and love (and as Dictator Princess would say, don’t y’all go hating) and along with that – we have fun. I don’t like the implication that my actions go against Islam. Yes, Islam is a religion of peace and humility but that does not mean we cannot have fun with our loved ones. My husband has already mentioned he enjoyed the surprise and inshaAllah we will be getting bigger balloons for another spontaneous battle! :)

Update

1. Sheesh, can I be more indecisive? I did like the other lime template but this one looks good too, no?

2. Alhamdulillah things with my little baby are going well. He is so much happier now that he is on the meds for his reflux and while he does have the occasional bad day he is still a smiley, chatty and adorable little man. Zantac tastes horrible. It’s so bitter they’ve tried to drown the taste by adding a strong peppermint flavour. The result? – Bitter peppermint. Ugh. I have to say I taste all my children’s medication before I administer it to them. I don’t do the same for the meds for my cats, although I have taken the odd animal antibiotic when I was too lazy busy to go the doctor. A nurse I used to work with made sure she would taste any new dog food before giving it to her dogs. True story. I kid you not. Yep, honest. True story. No you shut up!

3. I am officially OVER Summer. Well, I’m always over it. There’s nothing more gross than sweating profusely and then realising the sweat isn’t actually helping any because THERE IS NO AIR MOVEMENT HENCE NO EVAPORATION HENCE NO COOLING FROM SAID SWEAT! I do think sweat is great and everything but please not on me.

4. Toilet humour is in right now at my house. We have bought this book and the boys strangely enough love it. (I highly recommend this book by the way). The other day I had to pretend I was the poop monster with a turd on my head, suffering from a gross case of projectile vomiting and all this while carrying a jug full of urine just to get my boys in the shower. I suppose I better get used to it – mother of 3 boys and all.

5. Watched Napoleon Dynamite the other night. Still deciding what to think of it. Although I will say this: Your mum goes to college! Oh, and a heads up to anyone who hasn’t seen it – there’s a short scene after the credits have finished scrolling.

6. My cat hasn’t been well for a few months. The only sign being weight loss -he is such a skinny minny. After taking him to the feline specialist, blood tests and exploratory surgery with multiple biopsies of his liver, small intestine and spleen it looks as though he might have an inflammatory liver disease. InshaAllah nothing a 6 week course of 2 antibiotics won’t fix. If that doesn’t help, the next step is longterm steroids. I’m still thinking there is something really sinister going on (ie. cancer) but inshaAllah that’s just my paranoia.

7. I’m still working on my bird flu post and I know you’re all dying to read it. Sabr, children. Sabr!
