My blog dry spell can be attributed to me being busy busy busy instead of me being boring, lazy and tired. Not that it means anything I am doing is interesting mind you, just that I don’t have the time to tell you how boring, lazy and tired I actually am. Follow?

We went to the Brisbane Islamic School Fete on the weekend. The boys had a good time mashaAllah but why must there ALWAYS be some arrogant so-and-so who decides that it’s quite ok to push in line in front of little children who have been waiting all day to get on a ride. UGH! I was ready to use my superpowers* (all mothers are superwomen, didn’t you know?) on them but unfortunately luckily husband managed to stop me (all fathers are kryptonite, didn’t you know?) by telling me how I was only to use my powers for good and other nonsense.**

In September inshaAllah I will be running a small Islamic art and craft workshop for the little ones – it only goes for an hour and I’m targetting 3-5 year olds. A good friend of mine is taking care of the rest of it – the workshops run all week – and I’ve been brave (or stupid) enough to volunteer myself to take on a workshop all by myself. I’m not creative at all but I do think it will be fun. I just hope the children think so too.

In one of my phases of abject stupidity I decided to bake biscuits (“cookies” for my US friends) at 10pm last night.

The boys now have 20-30 nice black rocks with which to play outside…and some charcoal for sketching.

*By “superpowers” I mean the ability to make ANYONE feel guilty by a mere look and to scream at the top of our lungs for a good few minutes and then in a split second start talking quietly and sweetly to someone else as if nothing has happened. The most potent superpower of all is the ability to love the kids despite what they put us through, the rat bags.

**Really we all know he was just embarrassed by the thought of a pint-sized hijabi woman yelling, screaming and flailing her arms to the guilty party (and everyone else within eyesight and ear-shot) about proper Islamic etiquette.
