- sitting here on computer when I should be getting dressed and dropping off 7 year old at school
- parent support group last night was big success mashaAllah despite 4 or 5 cancelling at the last minute
- Noodles the cat is hungry so has taken to attacking the children
- much crying ensues
- 7 year old will be called 8 year old after tomorrow
- does this mean I am the mother of tween? When do the tweens start?
- he has requested 30 chocolate cupcakes, covered in chocolate icing to take to school tomorrow
- having frantically cleaned and mopped and tidied up house ready for support group yesterday, the house is MYSTERIOUSLY as messy as it’s ever been this morning
- trial work day at a different veterinary clinic on Saturday. I’m a bit tired of working late and coming home late so hopefully this new place will be a little bit more sedate but not boring (am I asking for too much?)
- gym is going very well although it’s taken me longer than I thought to get out of my Ramadaan funk. I have had to drop weights and I can only jog for 10 minutes before I start getting short of breath. I was managing 30-60 minutes before my break
- Noodles has now taken to attacking the other cats.
- much hissing ensues
- yes I HAVE fed him
My Life in Point Form

And I have to get dressed and pick the children but am sitting at the computer reading your blog
This is cool: a mum getting late for school. ‘Why are you late?’ ‘Oh, my mum was sitting at the computer wearing the rollers in her hair, writing stuff.’
Happy 8th Birthday to the little one!
Hey Salaams,
Just wanted to let you know I didn’t forget ZK’s birthday, but woke up too late (our time) to phone (knew he would be in bed by then). Please tell him happy birthday from BM (Barrister Masa) and I, and that we love him very much.
Will call to chat to the boyses (espec HYNAA) soon, insha Allah. I miss you all loads.
r.
Achelois – for shame!
Specs – I wear hijab so I don’t have to worry about combing my hair never mind worrying about rollers!
DSIE-W – it’s not a drama, honestly don’t stress about it. Tell BM I will have a flat white and husband will have the espresso. Ohhhhhh he’s Barrister Masa and not BARISTA!
If anyone is a barista around here it’s me! (“can you make me a cup of coffee, please?”).
Then again, I should look at the lighter side – not many women can say their husband walks around in a wig and a dress at work!
(but…, erm…, don’t tell him I said that!).
You’re very fit coz I get short of breath at 10 mins before and after Ramadan. Can you really jog on a treadmill for 1 hr? Tell me it isn’t boring. I like it better outdoors except I might have to find a different route as I got swoop by a magpie whilst cycling last week. Those magpies are scary when it is the swooping season!
I used to be able to do that umm-fi-ard when I was gymming twice a day which was before Ramadaan. I haven’t managed to get back to that fitness level or that level of commitment for that matter. I HATE outdoor anything so for me, jogging on a treadmill for an hour (when I could manage it) is perfectly fine and not boring at all! We have friendly magpies near our place.
Happy birthday to your son.
