Category: Life and stuff

Here is my new theme.

Went out gallivanting with a friend last night. Who knew that we’d have so much in common. We were in school together but I moved to Australia, she stayed in Zimbabwe, then moved to New Zealand and now she is here in Australia, living about 2 minutes away from me. Despite our different paths and probably very different views on religion (we discuss religion often but I think we are each holding back on saying things we really want to say and that’s something we may decide to touch on later but I’m in no rush) there is much that we’ve both experienced and it was both revealing and comforting to know that we are not that dissimilar.

Hectic day today. Am guessing the children will collapse into bed exhausted and so will I. I have forgotten how exhilarating swimming can be. I swam laps and floated (yes even with mah fat belly I can still float) and splashed and played. The boys enjoyed themselves immensely and I have already decided we simply must do this every weekend. I never thought I would be glad about Summer but I am actually really looking forward to cooling down in the pool when the days get unbearably hot.

Tomorrow will be jam packed as well with banana choc chip muffins to be baked, homework to be done (I think it means I will be doing a lot of yelling about homework, 10 year old will be dragging his heels* and husband will be rolling his eyes at both of us) and company to visit.

We are so blessed. Life – it is good.

*Why did nobody tell me of my typo??!!

I think I got this link from someone via twitter.

Polygamy makes families unhappy

I am not going to debate on the advantages/disadvantages/permissibility etc of polygamy so keep those comments to yourselves, thanks.  In many polygynous situations, the children suffer the most. I imagine it might be easier for the kids if everyone lived under the same roof but it would take a special kind of woman/women who would agree to those living conditions.
