Can anyone tell me why it is that my 2 year old is the only one in the history of EVER not to be hungry OR tired OR even happy after an active swimming lesson? And why does his bad mood and inappetance permeate to the next day?
Why does my 4 year old insist on wearing long pants with a long sleeved t-shirt and on top of that a fleecy lined JUMPER when we are experiencing 30 degree heat. Then even when he is hot, he refuses (on principle I imagine) to take his warm clothes off?
How do the children KNOW that us parents are tired and a little bit irritable and why do they choose this time to perform acts of patent defiance and annoyance?
Why people, why?

In other news, playgroup is at my house today. I am expecting a grand total of ONE mother to turn up. Which will be nice and relaxing and Umm Fi-Ard you are most welcome to come and join us (but please be warned as the above mentions, my children live in the twilight zone..doodooodooodoooooooo).It starts around 10:30 and goes until about 12. (We aren’t fussy about being punctual – we all understand that sometimes when we are about to leave, the little one suddenly needs a nappy change or the middle one will decide he doesn’t want to wear THOSE shoes anymore which means that pants won’t be matching anymore and of course that means the shirt will also have to be changed and the eldest will put on his brakes and lament that there will be not much to do and it will be immensely boring and do we really really really have to go? and then of course we realise that we are still in our pyjamas. So yeah – it’s ok if you’re late.)
