Flames flames flames on the side of my face…

Is anyone else completely grossed out by the fact that here in Brisbane the ambient temperature is actually higher than our body temperature?

Pet owners please take care of your animals in this weather:

+Ensure your pet has unlimited access to cool water. Animals don’t drink hot water so keep the water bowls away from direct sunlight
+If your pets are outside-pets, provide ample shade
+Regularly check on your pet and sit with them (they usually find the coolest spot in the house!)
+Watch for early signs of heat stress – restlessness, panting, lying on side with little response when called, bright gums, dry eyes, dry gums, hot to touch.

What to do if your animal is suffering from heat stress

+Bathe whole body in tap water
+Apply ice packs to paws, ears and groin area but be aware that this may cause vasoconstriction (constriction of the veins in these areas) which can lead to more heat staying INSIDE the body. Vasoconstriction can be avoided by moving ice packs to different parts of the body after 10-15 minutes
+If available, use a fan to aid in cooling otherwise, fan the animal manually
    +Seek veterinary attention

Oh yeah…10 points to anyone who can tell me where the title of this post came from :)

Cluedo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hang on…was it just ‘Clue’?? It’s been about 14 years since I last watched it.

I honestly thought I was the only one who even knew about that film, let alone remembered lines from it.

In a completely halal, heterosexual way, I think I have a small crush on you ;)

    Tee hee.

I hope you’ve got air conditioning else go straight to the nearest shopping centre and just veg. That’s what we’re probably doing tomorrow.

Thanks for the tips Tasmiya, I read the below tip as:

+If your pets are outside (the house)….pets provide ample shade. (for who?) ;-)

“+If your pets are outside pets provide ample shade”

Hehe..you know I had a comma in that sentence but then took it out for some reason..I’ll fix it now :)

  • Anton Says:

I only just spotted this Clue quote! Looks like I’m about 5 and a half months too late to win those points, huh? ;)

    Well I guess communism was just a… red… herring…

  • Tasmiya Says:

    Sorry Anton…Way way too late!
Are you still doing your foogle thing? I’ve been meaning to link to it but then wasn’t sure if you’re still actively answering questions.
Oh nevermind – I’ll link it anyway :)
And when are you going to come to Brisbane for a holiday?
