So, those who wear hijab (no we are not going down the road of a debate here):
HOW ON EARTH DO YOU GET YOUR SCARF TO STAY ON? I have tried all and any number of ways but find that by the end of a hard night partaying, invariably the scarf or my headband slips and SHOCK HORROR MY HAIR IS SHOWING. Now of course I am certainly hellbound* so please help me with tips, tricks (please not I am not averse to stapling the thing to my head such is my desperation) on keeping it on my head.
* Yes I am joking, let’s not get our headscarves in a knot

I wear an underscarf and then pin the scarf thru the underscarf AND thru my hair (but not into my scalp!). I make it’s tightly wrapped before I pin and voila! There it stays, 9 times out of 10 (hey, nothing is ever perfect!). It helps if the underscarf comes down over your hairline on your forehead. Otherwise, for me anyway, it will slowly but surely slide right off my head.

I use a tight underscarf (the smaller piece from the 2 piece scarves) – and its pinned down. Its not a silky type one and i think thats what helps it stay on.
I will show when we meet up

I pin it up, sometimes more than once. And the trick mentioned in the first comment above, that of pinning it through my hair also works. The underscarf idea is nearly foolproof too.
Sometimes, though, you just have to readjust it at some stage of the evening/day.
Thanks! I think the underscarf is the key. I have so many underscarves but just hate to wear them. Have tried wearing it a couple of times with pinning the scarf to the underscarf and for the most part, have not had to fiddle at all.
I’m BACK! So sorry been silent on your blog for ages. The laptop was sick (a-GAIN) and the whole things had to be replaced and so lost all my blog links. So, slowly going through and adding them back to my bookmarks. I think I’ve caught up on all your posts. Garden = great! MashaAllah! And I want to come and play in that cubby. And drink tea with you on your deck.
Anyway, re: hijab – yes, the cap thing is absolutely key. My hair is really, rally straight and if I don’t wear a cap, it just slides right off my head. I have friends with really curly hair, and they don’t need one as it just stays there, but I must have a cap of some sort. On really hot days, I’ll wear a smaller one, that doesn’t totally encapsulate my whole head, even a fabric headband. Then I pin the scarf to my cap. It’s the only way for me. I know for a fact if I don’t wear a cappy-thing, my hijab will probably have slipped off before I even leave the front door.
